This tutorial demo makes an ideal "Getting Started Guide" for the Literary Machine software, though it contains information that experienced users often do not know. It gets you off on the right foot with a proper introduction at the point where you and your machine meet - LM's unique and challenging interface. You get a simple and concise overview of the first things you need to know: how the various program elements work, how they relate to one another, and what they are for.

It is divided into three tutorials:

• Part I introduces you to the Project window. You learn how to flip it from one side to the other, what projects contain, how to move nodes in the Outliner, what the hint texts (tool tips) tell you, and so on.
• Part II shows you how to use the core database and its keyword matrix - your database items, dictionary, inflections, and concepts. Besides learning how this system works, you learn drag-and-drop operations, how to use the Dictionary, how to change sorting order, and how to manipulate the various kinds of windows on the LM desktop.
• Part III demystifies flywords and LM's unusual and complex menu system.
